Introducing our 2021 Newton Scholarship Winner: Cheyenne Simpson!

Newton Motor Group has long been a community-driven organization, beginning with their flagship store, Newton Nissan in Gallatin, providing a free car to one lucky student in Tennessee, rewarded based on the number of A’s on their report card. This was extended to their second store, Newton Nissan South, in Shelbyville, which now also gives away a free car to a high school student.

Last year, Newton Ford South & Newton Chevrolet Buick GMC joined this same heart for our community by deciding to give a $10,000 scholarship to one Bedford County student. Each year, the stores reach out to the school counselors and principals to choose two students from each of the 5 schools in Bedford County, based on their need, academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and more. A total of 10 students were chosen by the schools.

Last year, the event to draw the winner was digital, but this year we were able to safely gather these students together on Friday, May 7th at the Blue Ribbon Circle Club in Shelbyville. We served dinner, shared stories & encouragement with the students, and drew the big winner! Cheyenne Simpson, senior at Cascade High School, was drawn as the winner for the $10,000 scholarship. She is looking forward to attending Tennessee Technological University this fall, and she is planning on studying Nursing. In her own words:

“This scholarship would help me fulfill my dreams and provide a stable and less stressful environment for my parents and myself. In receiving this scholarship, it will take the load of college bills off my parents and allow my family to put money towards medical bills for my mom. My parents mean the world to me and sacrifice so much, so this scholarship will help me give back to them and show them how much my work and their sacrifices have paid off.”

“This scholarship is our way of giving back to the community we serve,” Katie Rouse, Marketing Manager of Newton Motor Group says. “It is incredibly meaningful to me, personally and professionally. I myself received scholarships to be able to go to college, and now I get to pay that forward in my work.”
