All things old become new again, and that mantra applies to almost everything, including popular vehicle brands like the Ford Bronco. In fact, after resurrecting the Bronco nameplate, Ford has decided to also pay homage to the Bronco's classic heyday with some all-new updates that hearken back to the SUV's early days on the production line. This is what makes the 2023 model so special because it’s all about the historical heritage of the Bronco, and it's why the popular sports utility vehicle has received various packages that celebrate the deep history of one of Ford's most popular sports utility models.
The 2023 Ford Bronco is headlined by the Heritage and Heritage Limited Edition, which pays tribute to the first generation Ford Bronco that rolled off the production line back in 1965. The Heritage Edition for the Ford Bronco is available for the two-door and four-door configurations of the 2023 Ford Bronco. The theme of the Heritage Edition is Oxford White contrasted against the modern-day paint schemes of the new generation Bronco, creating a vibrant two-tone visual presentation. This includes the Oxford White modular roof and Oxford White 17-inch wheels with dog-dish styling. There’s also the Oxford White stripe through the different body-painted colors while being matched with the classically inspired fender flares as seen on the Bronco Sasquatch, but with a more rectangular design.
The Heritage Limited offers slightly alternate features, such as black-painted 17-inch heritage wheels and an Oxford White lip. Both the Heritage and Heritage Limited come with classic Heritage Oxford White grilles contrasted with red Bronco lettering. You also receive a throwback plaid interior with Oxford White accents, just to bring the classic look to life for the modern era. The 2023 Ford Bronco is available across 10 different trims, which include the base Bronco, the Big Bend, the Black Diamond, the Outer Banks, the Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, Raptor, and both the Heritage and Heritage Limited.

The 2023 Ford Bronco features two different engines, which include a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, as well as a 2.7-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6. The two engines are also designed around the capabilities of the Bronco, especially when it comes to being heavily oriented around low-end torque for off-road traversal and performance. The two engines are also designated to different trims depending on what you need to use the SUV for.
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder can produce up to 300 hp at 325 lb-ft of torque. You can also have the EcoBoost 4-cylinder configured in either a 7-speed manual transmission for those who love to clutch or a 10-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, however, comes with a bit more gusto if you plan on doing more aggressive rock-crawling and hill climbing, thanks to its 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. The EcoBoost V6 is paired up exclusively with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
All trims come standard with electric parking brakes, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. The 2023 Bronco also features varying wheel sizes and types, including 16-inch bright-polished silver-painted steel wheels, 17-inch carbonized-gray aluminum wheels, and 17-inch high-gloss aluminum wheels with beadlock capabilities, each one outfitted to give different level off-road enthusiasts something that suits your level of off-roading. And if you opt for the Heritage Limited trim, you get the 17-inch dog-dish black high gloss-painted aluminum wheels.
The Bronco is also available in different tire sizes. This includes 30-inch all-season tires for casual drivers, 32-inch all-terrain tires for those who want to do a bit of light off-roading, and some massive 35-inch mud-terrain tires. As with many of the Bronco’s features, it’s all about what you plan on using the SUV for. Each feature is designed for different scenarios, all depending on just how extreme you plan to take your off-roading adventures.
The 2023 Ford Bronco is more than capable at what it's designed to do: venture off-road. The Bronco is outfitted with everything it needs to be a very capable SUV, including a part-time selectable 4x4 system for advanced traction control, or the more advanced automatic on-demand 4x4 system with multiple drive modes. With the Bronco, you have access to electronically locking power front and rear differentials, so you can lock the axles and get the traction control you need to crawl, climb, and drive over all sorts of uneven and uncompromising terrain.
The Bronco is also elevated in its capabilities thanks to the HOSS 2.0 system, which is the High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension system. This evolved stability management control implementation is what keeps the Bronco on its wheels and drivers in the seat while maneuvering through undulating pathways and lopsided obstacles. Thanks to the Bilstein position-sensitive dampers and control valves, you get an advanced traveling experience with the Bronco that adjusts the suspension travel to articulate the vehicle based on the changing topography of the terrain. And with a ground clearance of 8.4-inches and Trail Control with the Trail One-Pedal Drive mode and up to 7 G.O.A.T (Go Over Any Terrain) modes, the Bronco is more adaptable to all sorts of off-road obstacles than ever before.
Other features such as the removable doors and the soft or hard top for the two-door and four-door models, also give you options in how you experience the great outdoors with an open-air design. A manual swing-gate with up to a 150-degree swing enables easy access to the rear for storing your cargo, while available body armor can improve the durability of the Bronco to protect it while you're out and about traveling through the great wilderness, hillsides, or rocky crevices filled with jagged rocks and protrusions.
Two front tow hooks and a rear tow hook make the Bronco capable of towing large obstacles, from loose tree branches to other stuck vehicles. And with a max tow capacity of 3,500 lbs, you can even bring along a trailer and some other off-road vehicles for an awesome weekend trip. Available front and rear splash guards and available LED lighting arrays across the various trims also give you a great sense of visibility no matter what the lighting conditions are outside.
Pushing the boundaries of off-road travel is one thing, but housing a great sense of interior tech is another. Some vehicles go big in one direction and light in the other, but in the case of the 2023 Ford Bronco, it goes big with its off-road capabilities and technological features.
This includes a full array of safety assist features provided by the Ford Co-Pilot360, including BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert, a lane-keeping system, and active park assist. The Co-Pilot360 suite also features pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and evasive steering assist.
Available heated and ventilated front seats with standard cloth or available leather upholstery are accompanied by a 6-way manual driver and front passenger seats and a folding split bench for the rear seats. There is also the option to take advantage of a 10-way power driver seat and 8-way power front passenger seat for the upper trims. Available dual-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless access with push button start, and available intelligent access with interior ambient lighting all help give the Bronco a modern tech edge over some of its competitors.
When it comes to infotainment, the 2023 Ford Bronco can be had with an 8-inch HD digital display information center for the driver, giving you full customizable display information about the Bronco's telematics. On higher-end trims, like the Heritage Limited Edition, you get a 12-inch HD color capacitive touchscreen display with swipe capability powered by the renowned SYNC 4 infotainment system. This includes AppLink with app cataloging so you can access your favorite in-vehicle apps from the touchscreen while on the go, along with built-in 911 Assist in case you need emergency services at the tap of a button.
Of course, a modern infotainment system wouldn't be complete without expected features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, enabling you to connect your smart device to the Bronco and access media and apps. FordPass Connect, with voice-activated controls and navigation, also makes it easier to find and venture to your favorite spots, even if they are off the beaten path. And with the available SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth connectivity for media streaming, you can experience many great features from within the Bronco's cabin. Even better is the available B&O Bang & Olufsen premium surround sound system to help round out the Bronco's amazing slate of tech-rich infotainment features.
