  • Performance

A black 2024 Ford F-250 is shown driving on a highway.

As is to be expected, a vehicle with the “super duty” surname is built to accomplish the impossible. This equates to the necessity of having a powertrain that can move mountains. This is what Ford offers: a host of engine options that leave absolutely nothing to chance. From the base trim to the top of the line, we’re pleased to take a closer look at what’s in store.

    6.8L V8

The standard offering for the Ford Super Duty series is anything but basic or standard. In fact, its potency is quite impressive. Propelling the F-250 forward with the benefit of 405 horsepower, this 6.8L V8 engine also generates an impressive 445 lb-ft of torque. All engines pair with a ten-speed automatic transmission for optimum performance, as with most of Ford's truck offerings.

    6.7L Power Stroke Diesel V8

Much has been made about GM’s Duramax diesel-fueled engines and their part in proving that they’re still a viable option for the pickup truck. Ford has surpassed them with a pair of two engines that break the mold. The first of these produces 1,050 lb-ft of torque and has an equally impressive 475 horsepower rating.

High Output 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel V8

Just to demonstrate how potent diesel can be, the second of Ford’s Power Stroke offerings produces the highest performance ratings in its class. 500 horsepower and the capacity to generate 1,200 lb-ft of torque silences any doubts as to what the capabilities of the diesel-fueled engine can accomplish.

    7.3L V8

If a gasoline-fueled powertrain is what you have your eye on, then this is the creme-de-la-creme. 430 horsepower is more than enough to go the distance on any job site or off-roading trail, and 485 lb-ft of torque rivals many of the other offerings in its class.

    Towing & Payload Capacity

When it comes to offering you the best in terms of payload and towing, you can always rely on Ford to deliver the goods and measure up to the expectations of their clientele. When properly equipped, the F-250 can support a payload of 4,268 lbs, making it more than ideal for occupational duties that involve material handling. The capabilities of conventional towing are generous as well, with the 6.8L V8 allowing for 14,800 lbs. With a properly equipped diesel powertrain, 23,000 lbs can be pulled via a gooseneck hitch.

With Ford’s new towing technology known as Smart Hitch, onboard scaling systems are implemented to estimate how much you’re carrying, what travel routes are best to take depending on your payload, and even provide assistance with weight distribution. Towing and trailering have never been more streamlined and efficient than with Ford.

    Cab Options

The Ford F-250 is meant for people who work hard and take immense pride and joy in that. Just because your activities are hard doesn't mean that your comfort levels should be left out. Luckily, the interior of the F-250, where you’ll spend most of your time, is spacious and appealing to the senses. The amount of space at your disposal depends on which cab configuration you decide. The F-250 comes with three different options. Regular cab, which seats three, SuperCab, which seats six; and Crew Cab, which also seats six but has the advantage of having four full-size doors.

    Features for Work and Fun

The interior of the F-250 has plenty of features to ensure that you have entertainment on your commute, no matter where it might take you. The base trim has an eight-inch infotainment screen, while all other trims have one that expands to a foot. This is also equipped with Ford’s Sync 4 software, which continually receives updates over the air to ensure you have the best version at all times. The vehicle’s infotainment system is also compatible with both Apple and Android products.

Ford brings out the best for those who enjoy the sounds of their favorite music and podcasts instead of engine and road noise. Standard on all trims is a high-end stereo system from the experts at Bang & Olufsen with eight speakers and a subwoofer. For those who want to take their entertainment to the limit, an upgradable version with 14 speakers is available.

If you plan on using the truck on the job site, you’ll be pleased to know that the interior of the F-250 can be instantly turned into a mobile office. An available center console work surface makes catching up on the end-of-the-day paperwork a snap. By providing the type of amenities normally expected from a luxury sedan, Ford makes their heavy-duty trucks the high-end of hard work.

  • Technology

Ford has always been on the cutting edge of developing new ways to enhance the driving experience, provide oversight, and take things further than ever. There is much to discuss on the comprehensive suite of driver assist features known as Ford Co-Pilot360. This system provides an added layer of protection while you’re en route to any destination or just out for your Sunday drive. Because those who utilize the F-250 are usually fond of trailering and towing, many of these features have now been integrated into the process; from hooking up to hauling to detachment, Ford has your back.

BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) With Trailer Coverage

One of the most important aspects of driving is maintaining visibility. Any additional oversight you have regarding your surroundings can make all of the difference in the world regarding staying safe. This technology gives you exactly that: by providing a broader and more in-depth view of your blind side, you can ensure that lanes can be changed and your cargo can be transported safely and efficiently. This system can work with a trailer up to 33 feet long.

    Pro Trailer Hitch Assist

If you find yourself in a situation where you’re operating your truck and payload by yourself, pro trailer hitch assist can be a serious time-saver. This technology takes over the braking and acceleration during the hitching-up process, eliminating the need for a second pair of eyes to let you know when you’re in position. All of this is done with the touch (and hold) of a button.

    Pro Trailer Back-Up Assist

Backing up with a trailer can be challenging, even if you consider yourself a seasoned pro. This camera-based technology provides the necessary assistance to get it right every single time. All you need to do is turn a knob in the direction you want the trailer to go.

    Trailer Navigation

Traveling with a large payload or trailer is already challenging enough as it is. With the extra height of a trailer, your arrival time can be changed dramatically as you change directions based on road/bridge clearance conditions. Trailer navigation plans a route that’s time-saving and takes the height of the trailer you’re towing into consideration when planning the route. It also considers roadways that will be easier to navigate, making it one of the most advanced features included with the F-250.
