2019 Ford Edge

The 2019 Ford Edge might just be the roomiest of second-row SUVs in its class, says Car & Driver. In the Ford lineup, the Edge falls between the Escape and Explorer for size comparison. For this model year, the Edge was redesigned with a slightly broader grille, updated bumpers, and new wheel designs.

Upgrades to Transmission & Technology

Important upgrades happened between the 2018 Edge and 2019 model, including the shift from the six-speed transmission to the eight-speed. Every Edge now comes with a suite of driver-assistance features, collectively known as Co-Pilot360. This includes:

  • automated emergency braking,
  • lane-keeping assist,
  • blind-spot monitoring, and
  • automatic high-beam headlamps.

More features are available for a price increase, which would add other features like adaptive cruise control and enhanced park assist.

Interior Redesigns

On the inside, the Ford Edge’s center console has been overhauled. The traditional shift lever has been replaced with the rotary unit (see below), following the way of the Ford Fusion. With the new dial, the computer onboard will automatically select “park” for you, when the engine turns off.
