New or Used: There’s a Ford for Everyone

There’s no question that Henry Ford revolutionized the automotive industry but what’s truly impressive is that Ford remains true to its founder’s vision by offering something for every budget and driving need. This makes the Ford brand accessible to everyone, just as Henry intended. Businesses know the value of Ford’s commercial fleet from the Transit van to the E-Series Cutaway, while the retail side is littered with options from the performance-focused Mustang to SUVs like the Explorer, Bronco, and Expedition that are great for hauling passengers and gear. Even Ford’s truck lineup is impressive, from the Ranger to the iconic F-150 that continues its reign as the best-selling truck in America.

The Latest Additions to the Ford Lineup

One of the most remarkable things about Ford is the automaker’s ability to constantly raise the bar of quality and innovation. We see this throughout Ford’s history, from Henry Ford himself to the recent debut of trucks like the 2022 Maverick and the 2022 Lightning. The Maverick is turning heads as the first standard hybrid pickup truck in America, but the Lightning ups the ante once again as the first all-electric Ford F-150. Promising jaw-dropping power and exceptional handling, here’s everything you can expect from the Maverick and Lightning in 2022.

2022 Maverick

Do you love your SUV but sometimes need the capability of a truck? Ford answers this demand with the all-new 2022 Maverick, a hybrid in many ways beyond its powertrain. The Maverick is essentially a five-passenger SUV with four doors and a truck bed, but don’t discount its platform for lack of capability. The Maverick is the first truck in America to come standard with a hybrid powertrain, and that means you can expect plenty of power under the hood.

The Maverick is powered by a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine that’s mated to an electric motor to deliver 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. This power gives the Maverick a 1,500-pound payload and a 2,000-pound towing capability, which means the truck can easily haul a four-wheeler in its bed or tow a pop-up camper. What’s even better is that the hybrid powertrain maximizes the truck’s efficiency and delivers a 500-mile range on a single tank with a 40 MPG average in the city.

For more capability, you don’t have to look far with the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that Ford pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This combination delivers 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, which means you can expect even more capability from the truck. How much exactly? The gas-powered Maverick doubles its towing capability to 4,000 pounds, making it an exceptional workhorse.

Beyond the powertrain options, Ford equips the Maverick with a suite of innovative technology, detailed design features, and enhanced safety tools that truly set the Maverick apart from every other truck in the fleet. We see this in the Ford Integrated Tether System that allows you to customize the rear seat with FITS accessories like under-seat storage dividers, trash bins, storage bins, and double hooks. The truck bed offers something similar with its FLEXBED system that lets you create segmented storage, add bike or kayak racks, or make use of the integrated tie-downs, D-rings, and threaded holes to effectively haul cargo of any shape or size. This is why the Maverick is a DIY-er’s paradise and is set to revolutionize the segment.

2022 Lightning

Just when you thought the Ford lineup couldn’t get any better, Ford surprises drivers with the debut of the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning. While the Maverick is certainly impressive, the Lightning is in a league of its own as it takes America’s best-selling truck to the next level. This is courtesy of its exceptional electric powertrain and suite of advanced technology that gives new meaning to the “Built Ford Tough” slogan.

Powered by two electric motors, the Maverick delivers the most power of any F-150 in history to the tune of 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of near-instantaneous torque. This power makes the Lightning fun to drive, quick to respond, and a capable hauler with a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. What’s even better is that the truck’s lower center of gravity adds to the Lightning’s stability and effortless handling, giving you all the confidence you need when you’re behind the wheel.

Available with two battery options - short or extended range - the Lightning also offers the most advanced technology on the market. We see this in Ford’s available Intelligent Backup Power tool that allows you to use the truck as a generator to power your home for up to 96 hours. This is huge, especially in areas that see a lot of severe weather and power outages. When you’re on the road, you can enjoy a similar feature known as Pro Power Onboard that allows you to use the truck’s built-in electric outlets to power tools, appliances, electronics, and more.

The Lightning’s innovation extends even further to tools like Onboard Scales. Hauling a heavy load dramatically impacts a truck’s fuel economy, and that’s no different on an electric truck like the Lightning. To give you peace of mind, Onboard Scales uses sensors to estimate the Lightning’s payload in collaboration with Intelligent Range to deliver a better estimate on how far the Lightning can go on its battery. This takes the guesswork out of when you need to stop to recharge and, like the Maverick, will further transform what it means to be “Built Ford Tough.”
