That’s why payload is a very important consideration for truck buyers. The F-150 demolishes the competition with up to 3,315 lbs of payload capacity. The Silverado 1500 only has up to 2,260 lbs of payload capacity, and that number is achieved with the base engine. As the towing capacity goes up, the payload capacity goes down on the Silverado. The F-150’s payload capacity goes up as the towing capacity increases, so you won’t have to compromise between towing and payload.

Ford's most popular engines are its 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost options. The 2.7L EcoBoost has 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.5L EcoBoost provides 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The off-road Raptor trim has an exclusive High Output version of the 3.5L EcoBoost that provides 450 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. Needless to say, Ford brings a lot of really great options to its truck lineup, giving shoppers plenty of choices to find the perfect truck engine for their needs.
Chevy has four engine options for the 2023 Silverado 1500: a 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder, the 5.3L and 6.2L EcoTec3 V8s, and the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel. The 5.3L V8 gives the Silverado 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the bigger 6.2L engine provides 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the 3.0L Duramax gives you 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. While Silverado does have some attractive engine options, it does not have nearly as many as the F-150 does.

Ford ProPower Onboard is a revolutionary feature that lets you use your truck as a generator. The base system provides 2.0 kW of power to a pair of 120V outlets in the bed. If you choose the F-150 PowerBoost hybrid, it has a standard 2.4 kW system with two plugs and can be upgraded to a 7.2 kW option that provides one 240V outlet and four 120V outlets, giving you enough power to run a significant number of tools or appliances. Chevy does have a truck bed 120V outlet, but it provides significantly less power. How much less? The Chevy outlet only provides 400 watts, less than a quarter of the power of the base ProPower Onboard system on the Ford. Ford definitely wins this battle, both in the number of options and available capacity.

Finally, the 2023 Ford F-150 has the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system, which allows drivers to store up to 10 unique trailer profiles. Combining this with some specialized sensors allows your F-150 to handle your trailer with ease. Once the trailer has been entered into the system, you can navigate in reverse with a steering knob, letting your truck make all of the calculations and steering inputs for you. You can easily navigate even large trailers into tight spots using Pro Trailer Backup Assist, the many camera angles, and the graphical representation of the truck and trailer. The Chevy Silverado 1500 does have lots of cameras and some other handy trailering features, but it lacks the advanced features that the Ford F-150 has. Yet again, Ford’s technology beats out the Chevy.
